Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum
The exhibition of my Light Fields project in the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava is an important milestone for the project and for me personally.
My paintings are now hanging in a space known as the heart of Danubiana. It is a unique exhibition space with an inner block called the white cube concept, meaning that the viewer is optically located inside a white cube in, or in this case a cuboid. There are no windows or anything in this space that would disturb the exhibition theme.
I have been painting fields for years and dreamed of exhibiting this project exactly in such a space. These paintings are not done with the aim of being pretty, or to be displayed as individual paintings. I created this series as a concept: planning for it to be a cycle.
The paintings in the Light Fields series are of the same size and perfectly connected by a half-horizon, which thus symbolically creates the total space. As if the paintings were visors to the outside world, with a vista not on the Danube (which actually is out there), but the fields.
Výstava Pole v galérii Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum v Bratislave je dôležitým míľnikom pre tento môj projekt, ale aj pre mňa osobne.
Moje maľby sú aktuálne vystavené v priestore, ktorý nazývajú aj srdcom Danubiany. Je to unikátny výstavný priestor, ktorého súčastou je vnútorný blok vytvorený ako “white cube concept”. Opticky sa návštevník nachádza vo vnútri bielej kocky, v tomto prípade skôr kvádra. Nie sú tam žiadne okná či čokoľvek iné, čo by vyrušovalo myšlienku výstavy.
Už roky pracujem na projekte Light Fields. Sníval som ho vystaviť v takomto priestore. Tieto obrazy nie sú maľované s cieľom byť peknými, alebo individuálnymi obrazmi. Vytváral som túto sériu koncepčne, už s plánom, že to bude cyklus.
Obrazy v sérii sú rovnakého rozmeru a dokonale prepojené polovičným horizontom, ktorý tak symbolicky vytvára celkový priestor. Ako keby obrazy boli priezormi do vonkajšieho sveta, s priehľadom nie na Dunaj, ktorý tam vonku tečie, ale na polia.
