Violet Garden Vol. 2 (SK)

Záhrada je zväčša premyslené univerzum prispôsobené pre potreby človeka a vytvorená človekom. Je to priestor síce ohraničený ale svojou podstatou nekonečný. Je to priestor úžitkový, ktorý prináša úrodu hmatateľnú, ale aj nehmatateľnú: vnútorný pokoj, oddych a novú silu.

Záhrada, ak je správne navrhnutá a ekologicky smerovaná, je aj životným priestorom pre veľké množstvo voľne žijúcich živočíchov, a tiež priestorom človekom riadeného chovu zvierat. Záhrada je tak svet zmenšený do ohraničeného priestoru, ktorý si každý záhradkár riadi po svojom a pretvára ju na svoj obraz, aj podľa prevládajúcich tradícií a kultúry.

Annelies sa ma dávnejšie pýtala, ktoré obrazy zavesíme na výstavu. Odpovedal som jej, že všetky. Veľmi sa mi páčila jej odpoveď: „Rozumiem, len všetky spolu rozprávajú príbeh.“ Presne tak ich vnímam aj ja. Tieto diela sú aj nie sú samostatnými jednotkami, sú cyklom, ktorý podáva fyzický záznam o jednej entite – záhrade. Vyjadrujem v nej takmer všetky charakteristiky, ktoré sú v záhrade obsiahnuté: krásu všetkého živého, úžitok zeleniny a ovocia, ktoré sa na záhrade urodí, život veľkého množstva živočíchov  v nej žijúcich, aj smrť, ktorá je súčasťou života. 

Záhrada je pre mňa priestor, ktorý dáva a berie. Berie len jediné: energiu vo forme ľudskej práce, no dáva omnoho viac – potravu pre telo aj pre dušu.

Záhrada je pre mňa univerzálny zdroj naplnenia potrieb. Pri obrazoch zeleniny, už odtrhnutej a uloženej v bedničke, dúfam v aktívnu povahu diváka, že bude toto dielo vnímať hravo aj realisticky zároveň – “akoby sa načiahnuť a jednu slivku si vziať so sebou domov”.     

A prečo fialová? Záhrada hýri všetkými farbami, prevláda samozrejme zelená. Ale u mňa podvedome sa farba záhrady zvnútornila na fialovú. Technika mojej maľby napomáha úsiliu o toto vyjadrenie, pretože keď kladiem čiarku za čiarkou, vrstvu za vrstvou a tak vytváram farebné priehľady, ktoré vibrujú farbami a až patričným odstupom na sietnici vytvárajú želaný obraz. Tak sa mi darí vyjadrovať väčšie množstvo reálií, napríklad obsiahnuté aj v pohybe hydiny, ktorá sa rozbehne za hodeným zrnom a stretne sa v skrumáži.

Violet Garden Vol. 2 (ENG)

A garden is largely a well-designed universe created by humans and adapted to their needs. It is a space that has clear limits yet it is inherently infinite. It is a utilitarian space that yields both tangible and intangible harvests: inner peace, rest, and new strength.

A garden, if properly designed and ecologically directed, is also a habitat for a large number of wild animals and a space for human-managed animal husbandry. The garden is thus a world reduced to a limited space, which each gardener manages in his own way and reshapes in his own image, also according to the prevailing traditions and culture.

Annelies asked me earlier which paintings we would display at the exhibition. I told her all of them. I really liked her answer: “I understand, they all tell a story together.” That’s exactly how I see them, too. These works are and at the same time are not separate units, they are a cycle that provides a physical record of one entity – the garden. They express almost all the characteristics that are inherent in the garden: the beauty of all living things, the usefulness of the vegetables and fruits produced in the garden, the life of the many animals that live in it, and the death that is part of life. 

For me, the garden is a space that gives and takes. It takes only one thing: energy in the form of human labour, but it gives much more – nourishment for the body and for the soul.

For me, the garden is a universal source of fulfillment of needs. With the paintings of vegetables, picked and stored in a box, I hope for the viewer will approach them actively and perceive this work playfully and realistically at the same time – “almost to reach in and take one plum home with them”.

And why violet? The garden abounds in all colours, green predominates, of course. But for me, subconsciously, the colour of the garden has turned violet. The technique of my painting aids in the pursuit of this expression, for as I lay line upon line, layer upon layer, I create vistas of colour that vibrate with colour and only by proper spacing on the retina do they create the desired image. In this way I manage to express a greater number of realities, contained for instance in the movement of poultry that runs after a thrown grain and clashes in a scrummage.
