Light-fields

Samotný názov projektu vystihuje charakteristické atribúty mojej tvorby, ktorými sú banalita (obsahu i techniky), minimalita (výrazu) a utilita (motívu agrárnej krajiny).

Obrazy naoko pôsobia staticky, no zblízka je statika rozbitá a pripomína analógový šum s vibrujúcimi farbami.

Presadzujem jednoduchosť a minimalistický výraz a v prevedení “maximálne sústredenie”. Striedmosť a symetrický rytmus priestoru prepočítavam do bloku, v prísnej matematickej rovine.

Light-fields

The Light-Fields series is the umbrella art project that I have been working on since 2019. This project is my most important artistic expression of the way I understand the space of the picture and the way I define it through several key values, regarding both content and technique. The name of the project captures the characteristic attributes of my work: banality (of content and technique), minimality (of expression) and utility (the motive of agricultural land).

Banality in my work comes from the ordinariness of the ever-repeating motive – variations of fields, as well as my technique of tiny lines, which in turn defines the structure of the painting. The tiny lines layered on each other make colourful spots that appear to be swarming around. This swarming is a self-supporting means of expression. The pictures appear to be static, but when viewed from close up, their static is broken and resembles analog noise with vibrant colours.

Pictures in this series are composed on half-horizon, which helps me achieve absolute minimality. This is my main form-making means of expression, an anonymous conformity, the testimony of viewing the horizon in strictly half composition. I put focus on depicting the fields in a central and frontal perspective.

Fields, the main motive of my paintings, carry a utility in their meaning. Fields are an industrial-agricultural space that significantly changes, due to light conditions, the changing of seasons, but mainly because they are shaped by continuous human activity.

All of these aspects co-create an original concept of my perception of the country. I have been looking at fields for many years, it is my dominant theme. I promote simplicity and minimalist expression, while stressing maximum focus in the work on the art. I remain faithful to compact appearance, so that the final result is unambiguous and authentic. I transfer the frugality and symmetric rhythm of the space into a bloc, on a strictly mathematical level.
