To escape Slovakia’s freezing winter, I boarded a plane last Monday, heading for my second residency in China. I have been invited to spend the next four weeks here in Guanlan, near the city of Shenzen, just one hour away from the border with Hong Kong.
The Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is one of the most renowned printmaking centres in the world. I hope to bring some large formats from my stay here.
The print workshop in the Guanlan base transformed from an old furniture factory.
We have run the first printing of my first work here earlier this week.
This place has been temporary home to artists from some 40 countries in the world so far. I’m glad to be one of them in the next few weeks.
This time around, I’m not the only one representing Slovakia. My friend and colleague Radka Hrabovská is working on her project here too.
