Pollock-Krasner grant will boost my work this year
Ready to explore new fields this year.

I have been hard at work from the start of this year on painting more of my Blurred Fields series. I recently took my works to the Cologne Discovery Art Fair and they were received very positively in Germany. It was in Cologne that I got very good news from the US: The Pollock-Krasner Foundation awarded me a grant. I am one of the 111 artists from 17 countries to receive this year’s grant, and the only one from Slovakia. It is very motivating for me to realise that I succeeded in a highly competitive international environment. The award I have received from the foundation will help me focus on my work even better in the coming…

Father’s field (short film)

Father’s field is a short documentary movie by Richard Chudý, a student of documentary film who works in film production and management. I first met Richard years ago, when he was one of the students in my class. Richard decided to shoot this film, Father’s field, to highlight the parallels of my work as a painter and my ancestors’ work in the fields. https://youtu.be/7NvvD9RmpWM

Ljubljana’s DLUL Gallery

My Fields Continued exhibition is on display in Ljubljana’s DLUL Gallery until November 4. I returned to Slovenia with my works five years after my last exhibition in the small town of Izola. This time, my works are on display in the capital, Ljubljana. My exhibition opened on October 23, 2018 in the DLUL Gallery (Društvo Likovnih Umetnikov Ljubljana), on the riverbank in the Old Town. Moreover, this exhibition is also my first exhibition of paintings after four years of doing only prints.  Thematically, I reconnected to my main theme: Fields. I have used this name back in 2013 for my exhibition in Piešťany. Since then, I have continued to work on this theme and focus on it…

My second China trip: Working hard from day one

To escape Slovakia’s freezing winter, I boarded a plane last Monday, heading for my second residency in China. I have been invited to spend the next four weeks here in Guanlan, near the city of Shenzen, just one hour away from the border with Hong Kong. The Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is one of the most renowned printmaking centres in the world. I hope to bring some large formats from my stay here. https://youtu.be/TxKfT2xR3wE The print workshop in the Guanlan base transformed from an old furniture factory. We have run the first printing of my first work here earlier this week. https://youtu.be/44dmiRAjegQ This place has been temporary home to artists from some 40 countries in the world so…
